Hollywood Learners Club
Formed in September 2021, Hollywood Learners is the latest offshoot of the Hollywood Subiaco Bowling Club – a grassroots, not-for-profit adult learning group for members who dare to learn stuff.
We are a secular, apolitical, and thoughtful group of adults who meet monthly to socialise, learn stuff, and have fun. New members are always welcome.
An informative period March to May 2022, the learning events comprised of four excellent talks:
A guided tour of Nyungar Aboriginal art at the Art Gallery WA
A session led by genealogist Mike Murray on how to make the most of your DNA test results
A presentation by art psychotherapist Dr Anna Petterson about ‘lasting words’ – a project in which the life stories of older West Australians are captured, with the assistance of volunteers, for future generations
The blockbuster event for this period was a political forum, wherein the Curtin electorate candidates in the recent federal election presented their political platforms and answered some sharp questions from the 85 attendees who, aided by the adept chairing of Pastor Matt Hall, conducted themselves with decorum.
